Spawn in
This is the address the game wants. The server runs on the default port, so that's all.
bf2.askdavis.com
Before your first round
You need Battlefield 2 with patch 1.5, and a free BF2Hub account. GameSpy, the login service the game shipped with, shut down in 2014. BF2Hub stands in for it, so without it the Multiplayer screen won't let you past the login box.
Don't have the game? The downloads page has everything, patch included.
Joining from the game menu
- Start Battlefield 2 through the BF2Hub client and log in.
- Open Multiplayer, then the Internet tab.
- Choose Connect to IP and enter
bf2.askdavis.com. Leave the port as it is. - Once you're in, add the server to your favourites so it's one click next time.
Or skip the menus
The launcher is a small Windows batch file. Double-click it and the game starts and joins the server directly. It looks for BF2 in the usual install folder; if yours lives somewhere else, open the file in Notepad and set the folder at the top.
When it doesn't work
- The login screen says it can't connect.
- Start the game through BF2Hub, not the plain BF2 shortcut.
- The server isn't in the browser list.
- Use Connect to IP with the address above. The list depends on the master server, direct connect doesn't.
- The game says "modified content" or "version mismatch".
- Install patch 1.5, then any server pack from the downloads page.
- The launcher opens a black window and the game doesn't start.
- Set the install folder in the launcher file, or use the game menu instead.
